About the Council
Kirklees Metropolitan Borough Council, also known simply as Kirklees Council, is the local authority of the Metropolitan Borough of Kirklees in West Yorkshire, England. We are a metropolitan single tier authority, one of five in West Yorkshire, and the 13th biggest local authority in the UK in terms of population. Since 1 April 2014 we have been a constituent council of the West Yorkshire Combined Authority.
On Thursday 2 May 2024 District and Parish Council elections took place in Kirklees. Voters from all 23 wards had the opportunity to elect a new Councillor to represent their local area.
The results are:
- Labour – 24 seats
- Conservative – 15 seats
- Liberal Democrat- 10 seats
- Kirklees Community Independents Group – 6 seats
- Community Alliance – 6 seats
- Green – 4 seats
- Independent – 1 seat
