Children and Families
A council with its eye fixed firmly on the future – Kirklees children’s services is on an ambitious journey. A radical reform of how the council and partners are helping children, young people and families to thrive is gathering pace in line with our New Council approach. With a strong focus on early help and improving lives, we are relentless in realising our aims and committed to taking our workforce with us. We now have in place an innovative formal improvement partnership with Leeds City Council bringing additional pace, capacity and expertise to our improvement journey.
Our ambition is to support all children and young people to enjoy their childhood and reach their full potential. Our goal is to consistently place the child at the centre of our social work practice and to design and provide services that reflect the child's voice and are appropriate and proportionate to their level of unmet need.
Our commitment is that our workforce and elected members approach the role of corporate parent with passion and purpose, treating looked after children and young people as they would treat their own family.
